About

What started as a fascination in mid 2021 soon became an obsession with the art, history, and enduring legacy of chainmail. Known in Old Norse as brynja, chainmail has long served as both armor and adornment. A symbol of resilience, craftsmanship, and the people who forged it by hand.

With a lifelong interest in medieval history, mythology, and traditional craftsmanship, I immersed myself in the study of chainmail’s construction and origins. Over the past five years, I have dedicated countless hours to refining my techniques, experimenting with new weaves, and developing a style that bridges historical inspiration with modern wearability.

Helm draws heavily from my Swedish heritage. Throughout Scandinavia, protective armor and metalworking played an important role during the Viking Age and the centuries that followed. While chainmail was a prized possession reserved for warriors of status, it was also a remarkable feat of craftsmanship, requiring thousands of individually linked rings assembled entirely by hand. Fragments of mail armor have been discovered throughout Sweden, offering a glimpse into a tradition of skill, patience, and endurance that continues to inspire my work today.

Every piece created under Helm reflects that spirit. Rather than reproducing historical armor, Helm reimagines chainmail as contemporary adornment—transforming an ancient craft into wearable pieces that feel equally at home in modern life, on stage, at festivals, or as everyday armor.

Each design is handmade ring by ring, honoring the centuries-old techniques that first sparked this journey. The process is intentionally slow. It requires patience, precision, and an appreciation for craftsmanship in an age of mass production.

Every piece is made ring by ring, with an emphasis on quality, durability, and craftsmanship. Thank you for being part of the journey.
